About YogaRuka
Professional experience
Initially certified in hatha traditional in Rishikesh-India, to which I added specialisation workshops in iyengar, yin and functional training while travelling for two years over 4 continents. In New York I trained with L Kaminoff at the Breathing Project. Back in Australia I have been training with K Laughlin in Stretch Therapy, and certified also as a stretch therapist. I have been developing and honing over the years my own style, which sees my students improve consistently and in relatively short times compared to other methodologies. I have been teaching my yoga fusion method for a while, have organised and hosted workshops in UK, France, Italy, Turkey, Romania - and directed two wellness retreats in Spain and Morocco. I can assist my clients holistically on their journey to better health, beyond the fitness training into diet adjustments and therapeutical massage. I have certified as an advanced facilitator of yoga for kids under Loraine Rushton, and these days I am imparting yoga also in a few kindergartens, a fitness centre and at PCYC Balmain. My references can be seen in google business, on my website and on my Facebook page.

Rua has helped me with long-term elbow tendon injuries through a combination of stretch therapy and yoga. She is an excellent instructor and is passionate about her profession and helping others. Thanks Rua!!

Rua is a superbly focussed student-aware teacher with great compassion and a profound knowledge of anatomy. In her classes she concentrates on specific corporal issues, tailors the yoga level while keeping it challenging and grounding. Her care and attention in private classes gives a really solid yoga base and she adapts to individual abilities and needs. The only improvement would be to take more of Rua's classes!

Rua is a fantastic teacher! She runs the yoga classes for our kids at PCYC and we can't speak highly enough of her. She focuses on the strengths of the kids and challenges them to push themselves further. They love it and look forward to it every week!

FAQs

I charge $95 per *information hidden*session at the studio. At the client's domicile it will vary with the times and costs of transportation. I offer discounts for 5 and 10-session packs, and I am also open to concessions for disadvantaged categories.

The first session will include an anatomical assessment of *information hidden*where I both get a debrief from the client on what they are feeling/perceiving in their body, ideally a summary medical history of preexisting conditions, and I get them to show me their best (safe) attempt at a series of postures, that give me an idea of their degree of flexibility, strength and overall fitness. I tend to do longer final relaxations/meditations than your usual studio yoga or ST class, unless differently agreed upon with the client.

Fully certified yoga instructor and stretch therapist, registered with Yoga Alliance US.

As a designer and programmer for years, I struggled with gradually worsening back pain, followed by hip and knee pain, and loss of mobility throughout. Rock climbing, yoga and stretch therapy have not only bettered my relationship with pain and, eventually, eliminated it - through the years, they have turned me into a very fit and active individual, and have also, and especially, bettered my relationship with my self, my body, my mind.

All ages and levels of fitness, people with chronic conditions, special needs kids, etc.

To ensure the professional has a good understanding of anatomy and, especially if dealing with a person in less of an ideal state of health and/or fitness, to ensure the professional knows the condition, the risks, and is well equipped to assist the practitioner and help keep them safe all throughout the training period.
