I find that jobs vary a lot and so do client budgets. I discuss quotes on a case by case basis with new clients, considering their budget.

Meeting people and hearing about their photographic needs is one of the great parts of the job. 1. Meet new client face to face for a coffee or speak on the phone to hear their needs in detail. 2. Quote on the engagement (no surprises, ever) 3. Share and finalise a photography plan for the event when relevant. 4. Deliver the digital files as large and small processed jpegs for print and digital use respectively within an agreed timeframe. 5. Provide printing services if requested. These come at an additional pre-agreed cost.

I have been a very keen photographer since *information hidden*I have photographed scores of events ... the large, the small and the medium. Corporate/Association conferences, weddings, nightclub reunions, academics, families large and small, christenings, parties and BBQs. I completed a diploma of photography in 2010 and I have done a number of specialist light and portraiture courses since then. Most of all I love people and helping them relax in front of a camera so I can photograph their personality and emotions.

A 12 hour family reunion with over 100 guests. Lunch was canapés, live music, speeches, group photography sessions, etc. A finalised photography plan was provided to the client 1 week before the event--including a list of the must have photographs. 2,400 images were taken and 900 were delivered within 3 weeks of the event. Some of the images were urgent so these were done as a priority and delivered within a couple of days.

Hire a photographer that you feel comfortable with and trust. Someone you can be yourself with. Hire a photographer that produces images that have the look you are after.

Ask a Pro (in no particular order): 1. What type(s) of photography they specialise in 2. How much experience they have? 3. What will they charge to deliver the images I need? 4. Can I use the photos however I like?
