FAQs
All prices vary depending on the event and what you wish to achieve during the session. However this is a rough guide to pricing
$50- Half hour photo shoot
$100- One hour photo shoot
$200- Two hour photo shoot
Photoshop compositions- $20+ depending on task.
Firstly, I would have a long chat with my client, clearly outlining what they wanted to get out of the shoot. That would give me an idea of what types of shots I could come up with, I may make suggestions and see what the client thinks.
Once we are both happy with the details I would write up a contact outlining what we had discussed and agreed upon. The contract is reviewed by both myself and the client before it is signed prior to the shoot.
Several days before the planned day I will contact the client to double check the details have not changed and that they are still happy with the agreement. If there are any issue they are addressed here, including any amendments that need to be made to the contract.
On the day I do the shoot, making sure what I am doing is meetin the expectations of my client.
Afterwards I edit all the photos I took and edit/pick according to the contract terms. The client is sent regular status updates during the post production process.
When the photos have all been edited and the last remaining payment had been made all photos outlined by the contract will be delivered. I check back with the client afterwards to make sure there are no issues and that they are happy with their service.
I have a Cert 3 and 4 in Photography, currently looking at doing a Diploma in Photography this year.
It has always been a passion of mine but when I had the opportunity to study photography I jumped at the chance. Haven’t looked back since.
I have worked for a wide variety of clients in many different situations and settings. Each photo shoot is unique, just as are all my past clients.
My most recent project was for a young girls 18th birthday present. Her mother wanted to give her a confidence boost and arranged to have her come in for two photo shoots (one in studio the other outside). This girl was an absolute gem. She had the most gorgeous smile and I loved how her quirky personality shone through in every photo I took of her. The photo shoot and post production took me a total of 20 hours or so. It was incredibly immersive, but it was all worth it in the end.
1. Don’t be shocked by high prices. Sure it may seem a lot, but you have to consider that a photographers job doesn’t end when they leave your event. They spend hours preparing themselves and their equipment before hand, and then spend even more time in post production touching up and selecting the best photos. And in the end, a good photographer is worth every penny as they go that extra mile every time.
2. Find a photographer who’s art style suits what you want to get out of your shoot. Most photographers specialise in one or a few genres, there is no point it trying to get a landscape photographer to do your newborn photography. And even then each photographer has their own style and way of doing things. Find someone who you gel with really well and you love the work they produce.
When/Where/Who- Time, date, subject matter, location
What do you want to get out of the photo shoot? What are your expectations?
Is there a particular shot you want to replicate or style you want?
Will the photographer have to travel?
If it is a long event, will you be able to provide a safe space for the photographer to stash extra gear? Will you provide refreshments?
How do you want the photos edited?
How do you wanted them delivered to you at the conclusion?
What other details does the photographer need to know? Is this a surprise event?
Is it indoor or outdoor? What time of day will it be?
