My pricing for event photography is based on a higher rate for the first hour, then $150 per hour after that. Importantly, this hourly rate includes the processing of images back at my studio. As I take care to process each photo individually, it takes hours to properly process and deliver the finished photos, and this is included in the hourly rate.

The first thing I like to do is understand is who these photos are really for, and where they will be seen. Who is the end audience for these photos? For example, if it's a corporate event — will they be used for PR releases, website galleries or mainly used on social media? I will also want to get "in the loop" as far as the run sheet of the event is concerned with the timings throughout the event, and any last minute changes so I can be prepared. Finally I need to know the small details, like the types of shots you are looking for, what style of photography you like and don't like etc. Preferences and etiquette when interacting with guests etc. I will also ask about any special shots you would like such as group shots which may need lighting preparation in advance. In the end, every event unfolds differently to how everyone imagined. That's why I like to be prepared for "any event"!

My background is in computer programming and business marketing and branding. I also ran one of the first original Speed Dating services in Brisbane about 15 years ago called "Blink Speed Dating". I was running speed dating events in three cities and running multiple events per week. This gave me great insight into running successful events, and how important preparation and timing was for their success.
