Professional experience
Many people outside the translation industry thinks that any bilingual person can be a translator. This is far from the truth. In order to translate a software manual from Chinese to English, it's not good enough to ask a Chinese person who speaks English well. This translator needs to have English as their first language, know the software terminologies, and be a good English writer. I have both Chinese and English as my first languages. Regarding English and Chinese writing skills, I am always the person to be consulted whenever people around me want to have a last-minute proofreading before they print hundreds of copies of the document. My rates are reasonable and I give discounts for pre-payment, large volume, continuous works, repeated sentences, etc.
