A former Naval officer, former educator, and one time local government councillor, he has written text books and articles for an assortment of newspapers and journals. His personal time has seen him serve on the Boards of the Royal Victorian Eye & Ear Hospital, the RACV, Leadwest and Melbourne Western Tourism. He was Vice Chairman of the SIO/ GIO Consumer Appeals Council, the first insurance ombudsman body in the nation and Vice Chairman of the Hellenic Heart Health Committee of the Heart Research Centre. Ange has been a Red Cross Blood Donor for 40 years and a weightlifting coach and referee for 34 years, attending at two Commonwealth games and one Olympics. He holds a number of awards and commendations including various from the Victoria Police for Crime Prevention, again from a volunteer capacity.
